These European Redworms are called several different things like the Belgian worms, big Redworms, composting worms and trout worms. It is easy to get its cousin (Eisenia fetida) confused with because they both belong to the same family and look very similar. The smaller sized Redworms Eisenia fetida is more commonly known as the red wigglers. The European Redworms (Eisenia hortensis) are larger and easier to put on a fishing hook. In the sport fishing industry, these European Redworms are rapidly gaining popularity because of their size and hardiness. European Redworms are medium sized and smaller than Canadian and African Redworms. European Redworms will flourish if given the perfect conditions and will due best in a climatically controlled environment along with regular feedings and monitoring. They are known to be great for composting and can tolerate a wide range of temperature. European Redworms prefer 55-75 degrees but can tolerate much lower temperatures. European Redworms are commonly used by anglers who fish for Bass, Bluegill, Inland Trout, Perch and Crappie. Once you have used European Redworms for bait, you will notice how extremely alive they are in and out of the water. On top of being great for fishing and composting, they are also used as pet food for some amphibians and birds. Fish living in an aquariums and small ponds will also love these healthy treats. The newly European Redworms (offspring) are the best starter food for rearing baby tiger salamanders I have ever seen. The extra small worms would stay alive for days after they were put in water and continue to squirm around until they were eaten. European Redworms are very prolific and can double in mass every 75 days. The mature European Redworms that we sell in bulk are approximately 1 1/2 - 3 1/2 inches long. It is easy to keep these big red worms alive if you give them what they want. Eisenia hortensis will thrive in an environment that is dark, warm and moist and has a food source, with plenty of oxygen. Try not to expose the worms to sunlight for any extended periods of time because this can kill them. If you are interested in composting with European Redworms that we sell in bulk, these big Redworms can help you get rid of your grass clippings; waste vegtable food scraps, cardboard and reduces the amount of garbage you send to the landfill. There are even more benefits from European Redworms, like worm castings. These worm castings produce fertile compost for all your gardening needs. Red worm castings are full of nitrogen, phosphates and potash. Why buy fertilizers when you can get it for free? If you want to grow bigger and healthier plants without burning the roots, here is a natural solution for a greener environment. This type of small worm has been on this planet for many years and is gaining popularity every day. So what are you waiting for, go ahead and buy some worms today.
