The grease is a PTFE based lubricant with particles small as a microscopic micron. The original formula was developed for sophisticated high tech weapon systems but now has been discovered to work on a whole lot more. This product has superior performance when compared to any other. With a properly cleaned metal surface area, Reel Saver grease will penetrate deeply into the pours of the metal surface area and will reduce the friction and wear. Approximately 60% of the time we are using the Reel Saver grease compared to the Reel Saver oil when we are doing reel repairs. The main components that should be lubricated with grease are both ends of spool shafts and gears like the main drive gear and pinion gears. The best thing that I have discovered about Reel Saver grease is that, when we are finished with a reel, we can put it in the freezer and see how well it performs ice cold. Oil is needed on surfaces where you don’t want to see the grease or places you want to penetrate down into an area. Reel Saver oil can be used on ball bearings, handle knobs and worm gears. You will also find other uses around the house that could use some oil. One of the nicest features of the syringes is that they are user friendly. You can refill them and have needle point accuracy when dispensing the lubricant. Simply rotate the head of the nozzle until the black ring lines up with the nozzle and cut the tip off at a 45 degree angle.
